Gmail Basic HTML Version

If you're using slow Internet connections and you want the Gmail to be loaded faster not using the AJAX(standard view), you can switch your interface to basic HTML view. The basic HTML version loads lower, but it's compatible with almost any browser. You can link your current version to basic version by clicking the bottom at the top of your interface. If you don't see the bottom on your page, you can access it here.

Gmail now has this option to let you set your interface as default, so Gmail will load in basic HTML view, every time you go to your interface. The basic HTML view is compatible with almost any browser, but some of your favorite features will not be available in the current view:

  • Spell checker
  • Keyboard shortcuts
  • Address auto-complete
  • Ability to add, edit, import, and delete contacts
  • Google Docs and Google Calendar integration
  • Integrated chat
  • Rich formatting
  • Custom From address
  • Web clips

Just switch back the page to standard view, if you don't want to use the basic HTML view anymore.
