"Up in the Clouds"(created by Grace Moon) is the winning doodle of Doodle 4 Google selected from over 16,000 entries that graced Google's Homepage today.

"My doodle, "Up in the Clouds," expresses a world in the sky. This new world is clean and fresh, and people are social and enlightened. Every person here is treated as family no matter who they are. The bright sun heats this ideal place with warmth, love, and brightens everyone's day"(Grace Moon).

Google narrowed down from more than 16,000 entries 40 finalists as regional winners. Google also created a Map of Finalists that lets you to view the doodles of finalists.

In order to announcement of Doodle 4 Google competition a couple of month ago, there are more than 16000 kids participating in the competition.
Today Google announced the state finalists and 40 regional winners. "The thousands of wonderful entries made judging difficult, but with the help of experts at Young Audiences, Teach for America and reporters from across the country, we've managed to narrow the field to the very best"(Link).
Kids from across the U.S. compete to replace the Google logo for a day as part of Doodle 4 Google art competition.

Doodle 4 Google Competition

On every special occasions, Google change their company logo on their site to commemorate that special occasions (also known as Google Doodle). This year Google announced that they are creating a competition called Doodle 4 Google for US students in grades K-12.
To join this competition, just ask your children's teacher or principal to register their school to the competition. The registration process will then close on April 28th 2008 and all the entries have to be postmarked by April 12th 2008.
Several judges will then choose 40 regional winners who will then be invited in May 2008 to the Google headquarters in Mountain View, California. The #1 winner will have their doodle on Google homepage for a day in the US and will also receive $10.000 in a form of collage scholarship and a technology grant for his or her school.
